just go genuine honda filter cos honda pretty much makes everythin perfect for their engines
Honda ftw, with their factory tool, removing/ installing & torquing up is a breeze, it's like $10 for the tool and their filters aren't very expensive, the tool also works for Hamp filters as well :)
where can you buy the 'factory tool'?
all dealers do sell them
HAMP oil filter, use it on my EK4
all filters from honda are the same. 1 size fits all.
except NSX or the old V6 Legend
Hey mate, found the part number from Honda for the oil filter removal tool. It is 04151MWO305, that should help you out just fine
Cheers,
Ryan
Z79A for ryco....i think
Most people say all oil filters are the same...as long as they're changed regularly.
Personally i use genuine honda ones...(dark blue)
I read somewhere that the jdm (HAMP) filters increase oil pressure slightly...is it true?
Ryco is too wide to get off easily, cheap and shit. Oem filters have an optional tool to remove them easily and to torque them up with during install
Hamp have a tendancy to leak, as Honda here won't sell them due to this fact, they were considering doing so but they had a high record of leakage due to gasket design. I've seen no proof of this on my end though
Not sure about how wide they are...but i assume it really it depends what tool you're using to remove it.
I've got a couple different tools and neither of them have trouble removing genuine honda, hamp or ryco filters.
I went to my local honda dealer insearch of this infamous tool, and they claimed they've never heard of it.
i had a hamp filter on mine ryan, didnt leak went to repco they gave me a
ryco and then wen i got home realised i already had 3 spare filters when when
i changed the oil in my accord lol 4 pack of valvoline's
hahaha
Z79A for ryco or valvoline
or just go to honda and get a honda one, i might... in 5 months
whats the diff with hamp and the normal oem one?
increase in filtering/performance?
The only disadvantage is that with any other tool it will not allow you to re-torque the oil filter to the specified torque so it doesn't leak
They're full of shit or you didn't go, simple as that, it's a oil filter removal tool, they use them daily on every single vehicle apart from the 6 cylinders. They're under $10 at the parts desk
Hamp has a non paper filter element and "claimed" better flow rate, and a proven leak rate in alot of cases when tested here in OZ as I have found out. Oem ones do not leak period
No link, it was a case study during when Honda was bringing them into OZ, after a number of cases of gaskets not seating properly they stopped, they're not into having any kind of problems with their new vehicles
Is HAMP used as OEM in Japan or is there an equivalent Honda blue filter being sold there?
both from memory can be had over there
I'm using hamp filter and know of a dozen other hondas using hamp filter and I havent heard of one leak yet
go mugen oil filter XD
I use HAMP ones on the EK, no problems yet  *fingers crossed*
