More Light from Headlights?

I own a BB6 Prelude and the headlight light output is piss poor. I have stock headlights with (Which seems to me) pretty standard bulbs.

I want more light at night. I'm not too fussed about colour of the light just more of it. I've ruled out a HID kit because of cost and I'm not too handy with what looks like to me a very complicated job to fabricate some retrofits.

Are Phillips CrystalVision my best bet? And which bulb would I need?

i got some projectors sitting around if you're interested :p

You will get less light with those blue bulbs. Go for the Plus 50 bulbs.

yep narva plus are good, cost me like $30/pair so cheap to replace too

HIDs don't need retro fitting. Only neet to mount the ballast and all else should be plug & play

im in the same boat i want more light to see but dont want to sepnd much for HIDS

they dont need retrofitting but other driver will flash you since the glare gets in their eyes....retrofitting is the proper way to do it

I've experimeneted alil on Halogen globes and the best i've come across without extending wattages is the Philips X-treme.

They only make H4 and H7 size.

iv gone from mtecs or phillips then back to mtec (hids)
and it looks great and gives you much more light...
if you do go with hids remember to aim your headlights down to avoid being a nuisance to others on the road.
i know jack all about cars and i still managed to fit my hids on :p

Yeah I don't really want to be a hazard on the road with glaring lights...

What does fitting a HID kit involve anyway? (This is without projectors/retrofitting?..). Do you just put the bulb in place of the H1 bulb? that I have (I think its a H1)

Will look into these, where did you get em?

yeah well if its just H1's then you would:
buy a H1 hid kit..and choose the colour temp im running 6000k which i think is perfect.
the kit should come with instructions and its pretty much plug and play
since the globe is H1 then i should fit into your headlight as usual.
its just the cables....the globe runs to the ballast and from that to your car..

for me the most difficult job was hiding the ballast because i wanted every thing to look as stock as possible...

oh and once you gone hid...when you drive a car with out hids...you always think to yourself if your head lights are on or not. hahaha

I've been doing some research and I will need a projector or retrofit on the BB6 as the stock headlight housing produces way too much glare...

So I think HID's are out of the question, cause #1 I don't think I'll be able to do a retrofit and #2 projector housings cost $300+ dollars...

hahaha yeah projectors require WAY TOO MUCH effort...im running on reflectors too but i tilted them down...so i don't annoy too many people..
i can still see the road and what no clearly...but i haven't been high beamed...so its a good thing :thumbsup:

a lot of non-projector headlights use HIDs, but they just need to lower the beam projection...about 2-3 (maybe) degrees lower than when u're using normal halogen...

ok 1st as no one has bothered to mention !!!
if you want brighter light you need your wiring to be up to the job
(no factory wiring is very good ie:- the wires are to small )

the best place to start is to improve your earth and its placement
next step would be to convert your positive to relay switched from the battery
for both hi & low
if this seems to hard its not very easy
ive had better lights with stock bulbs than others starting with this method first as it works

but if you do this and then go to a hi quality globe ..the result will be a very hi improvment to your h/lights

Yeah without a retrofit HID's are pretty much a hazard to all oncoming traffic (In the BB6 anyway)

I think I'll give the Narva +50's a go...

Edit: From reading reviews ppl have said the Phillips are allot better than the Narva +50's and they last longer too...

i have 50+ for 3 years. no blow up.

You should be careful, as there have been cases where the HID bulb damages the chrome on the head lights, as in it burns it.

What brand mate?

Don't put HID's in reflector lamps. freaking annoying!! Only put them in Projector lamps.
