Fake Pivot Raizins

A heads up.

Looks like the market is flooded with em',so check it out before U buy one!

They are a great product but the copy's are naturally shiet.

what I found is that the original VS-ME comes with 5 earthing cables of different lengths, fake ones come with 3 cables. The other differences can only be seen if u have a real one next to it. I'll post pics in the review thread.

The 'Mega raizin' the purple one,just has a + and - lead dosen't it?

It just hooks up to the battery.

yeap, like the blue raizin, the earthing cables are attached to the battery with and attachment the can connect 6 cables to it. One for the Raizin 5 for earthing

So it does then?

I thought it just had a + and - off the unit and that connects to the battery?

VS-ME is Razin with 5 earth cables and attachment.

You are correct the Raizin itself just have the + and - cables.

Lets start comparing... starting with the front of the box

The one on the right is the real deal, left is fake. The difference - The Illustrated Raizin on the box cover is clearly visible

Back of box is the most obvious

On the fake packaging(left) the print of the Raizin looks like it's glowing.

Basically print quality is a little worse than the original, but if you don't have a real box next to it then it is a bit hard to tell.

Main - tell tale signs
1) The "Mega" Word is thicker on the fake
2) The top of the LED display is smooth on the fake
3) The print of "15" on the 2 rear resistors is very faint, the real one is engraved in white
4) The word "condensor" on the super condensor is in normal font as opposed to being in bold on the real one
5) There are 2 of the blue things on the front of the fake and only one on the real.

I read that another way to tell is the K symbol on the condensors, unfortunately on the fake I got it also had the K. I am actually quite impressed with the copy as I would never had known if I had not had a real one to compare with.

So is this the genuine article?

IMO, I don't think it improves power, more like reduce loss from electrical inteference. Hence if your car is already well wired which is like most moderen cars you would't feel any diff. Might help when you start playing with ICE that draws big power from your batteries.

hi power sell genuine ones or your money back i beleive.

just make your own grounding kit, does same thing.

go to any auto electrcian and show them this. they will be like wtf.

if your car is grounded properly then why on earth would it need to be stabilized.

your alternator will just keep producing power if anything.

this is a trick. all it does is add more grounding points so you think the car is working better (which it is) but it can be done without spending money on the unit it self.

just get a large terminal from negative batter, get some thick grounding speaker wire. much funner to diy it aswell.

get a multimeter and set it for testing continuity then put one end of it on to negative of battery and other end to other places you want to ground better. if the multimeter beeps it means it can be grounded, then if the reading is high enough, you should ground it there.

keep doing it for about 5 or 6 wires, making sure to get the good shit like grounding your starter motor , your frame itself and your coil packs or ignitor box if you have it.

i had a fake one btw, then got a real one, but i only had the raizin model not the other extreme ones.

i got tricked into the gimmick LOL

But the Mega raizin is the goods,a lot of research over the years etc etc.A great Japanese company that produces great products.I got sweet FA money but if the mega raizin does half as much as the blue grounding raizin then I'll be happy,but I do believe it will do more.

the 15 on the fuses are there now but if you look close enough you can see as if they've been spray painted on and have overspray around the sides of the numbers

i think it depends intirely on the car ... alot of the newer cars are alot better grounded than the older ones

i found that the pivot kit didnt make much difference on my Dc2 VTI-R ... but on my EG8 it gave me cleaner start up and stronger ignition

it broke as i was ripping the thing out of the car ! i didn't notice a difference when i installed it in the car....funny enough though the drive after taking it out felt better !!!
i've ordered a blue raizin instead from a more reputable source now so i'll see how that goes

Just on a side note, talking about counterfeit and fake merchandise, there have been estimates of up to 40% of all CDs in genuine record stores are counterfeit. Are they that good? Well, no but you can only tell when comparing side to side, like the PIVOT products mentioned above.

The fakes are there because stores look for cheaper alternatives when purchasing stock.

Quite often you look on the back of these CDs, and like the printing on the PIVOT products, there are small differences, usually down to slightly blurred small text. The counterfeiters get away with this because most CD buyers put the discrepancies down to cheaper production methods by the major labels, and the sound quality is usually pretty good.

A BILLBOARD magazine report (21/09/2002) shows there are 8 CD pressing plants in Pakistan, all unregulated, supposedly run by the Asian Mafia. They produce 150 million CDs each year that are distributed through India.

In Africa, reports suggest, there is not one country where counterfeit CDs are less than 25% of the total market, and in West Africa it is more like 85-90%. Remember, I'm talking about "counterfeit" here not pirate or bootleg CDs. "counterfeit" CDs are CDs made to look exactly like the original (as best as possible).

Just thought I'd throw this in as more and more products are being counterfeited, in large factories, and not just in China, although music publishers say up to 90% of all product comes from there.

hahaha cheers...didn't realise you were in perth !! from memory i parked quite far away too...so hard to get a spot in the good places now had to settle for something shitty because we were in a rush....i regret making that decision

As i just bought the Spark Earth from the above link www.Pivotracing.com and finally dig up this theard about which one is fake or real. I was quite socked with your article about this so just try to google and email PIVOTjp.
Here is the outcome which i have found through pivotjp website.

If you go to the website http://pivotjp.com , click on the tab CONTACT link to Singapore Authorized Distributor website, it comes out with the result that http://www.pivotracing.com/ is the real distributor of PIVOT in Singapore from Pivot Jp. I am waiting for the reply from the PIVOT jp to see how.

www.pivotracing.com is genuine stuff. The company behind the site ,Mcwell International, is where I got my original from.

Just got email from PIVOT Jp, they comfirm that www.pivotracing.com is offering genuine products from McWell (Pivot official distributor in Singapore)

i brought the blue raizin a couple of months ago and recieved it a little while ago (stock problems)

the quality is very very different !!!! everything down to the clamping of the wires

it was thru Mcwell so if anyone is thinking of getting one to go thru one of their 2 websites

can i just stress how important if your planing to buy a pivot raizin that it is absolutley vitial its genuine? my friend had one and we jumpstarted the car with positive to positve and negavte to ground cable on the rocker cover, and his cig/cd stereo/clock just wouldnt work? we stressed so much and started checking the voltage of the clock and everything else which in turn just ****ed his vents because we did not see it was melted to a bracket? now his brackets are wobbly and im going to have to makeshift put it back in place with chewed bubble gum. absolute fail product the fake one was

his car had 3 fuses
one for each cig/radio/clock
all three were blown... >_>
lucky it was a stupid proton satira and their fusebox came with 4 spare fuses slotted into the lid of the fuse box and 3 of them being 10A fuses (thank jeebus)

can you let us know which seller you used also ... might help with people looking in the future

i'd suggest telling the seller you want a refund + here is the proof which you can get from the pivot website (not sure if you got the blue or purple one)

send it back and make sure you keep you some form of "proof of shipping" (this is required as your responsibility if it gets far enough to show you actually did what you could to return the item)

if you don't get a response after 1-2 weeks launch a dispute with paypal/ebay to force them into the refund otherwise if you wait too long (45 days from the transaction) you won't be able to launch a complaint against the seller

with my experience with ricky something something as the seller...giving him the benefit of the doubt that he genuinely did not receive my return then it was about 2-3 weeks and he still didn't get it which i found strange...so i waited the 44days before launching the response with ebay/paypal and within 3 hours i got my claim back

The fake units have been known to cause under bonnet vehicle fires. Stick with genuine Raizin, the gains are minimal, but slightly more noticible on older vehicles due to weaker/degrading grounding points.
