I've only just found out that the old owner of the car and I have both been using the wrong coolant for my much loved car. I know how to drain the coolant from the radiator and engine, but I have no idea how to flush out any silicate deposits which may have settled into the radiator. If anyone else has encountered this issue and knows how to get them out, please point me in the right direction.

I've done this more times than i woul have liked to.
1. Drain coolant through rad and open block drain if you have one.
2. Run a radiator flush/distilled water cocktail through the system. follow the instructions.
3. drain the rad flush. watch that groce shyte come out
4. refill with coolant or flush again.

Use some plastic cups in the same way he did, then you'll be able to monitor your progress and see if it's actually doing the right thing.
Take yor thermostat out if you can. Saves a lot of time for each flush

Thanks for the info Bennjamin. If it comes to it I'll have to get a new radiator. I have a feeling it's new cause the previous owner had done a recent flush of the system and installed a new thermostat.Quote:

nah radiators aren't really replaced that often
only if leaking badly
