MOTUL Forges New Links with McLaren GT Teams

In the fast-paced, hi-tech world of international motorsport, reliability and versatility are key watchwords for any manufacturer, competitor or supplier. Motul has been breaking new ground with its lubricant technology since it was formed over 160 years ago, establishing a reputation for excellence and performance at the highest levels of motorsport.

As plans fall into place for the approaching 2016 motorsport season, Motul is pleased to announce that it will partner with a number of teams competing with the prestigious McLaren 650S GT3 car in some of the most competitive GT3 races and Championships around the World.

In the Asian Le Mans Series, a partnership with Clearwater Racing has already paid dividends for all parties as the team recently wrapped up the GT3 Championship title with its 650S GT3 at the season-ending race in Sepang, Malaysia in January.

Last month top Australian team Tekno Racing made its debut with the McLaren 650S GT3 in the Bathurst 12 Hours – dominating the weekend by taking pole position, setting the fastest ever lap around the circuit and a convincing victory at both Tekno and the 650S GT3 first attempt.


In the Blancpain GT series, Motul is partnering with the newly announced Garage 59 Team competing in both the Sprint and Endurance series as well as partnering with the K-Pax Racing team in the Pirelli World Challenge. As a result, Motul will have a presence in all the major Global GT Championships throughout 2016.

All the teams have the Motul Motorsport line of products available to them, which includes the 300v engine oil, Gear Competition 75w140 gearbox oil and RBF 660 brake fluid – all of which have been proved in competition across the world.

This will not be the first time that Motul has put its mark on the pages of motorsport history alongside the McLaren marque. As a partner with Hexis Racing a few years ago, the lubricant company was part of a highly successful FIA GT1 campaign in 2012 with Hexis’ McLaren MP4-12C GT3, winning the Baku City Challenge and securing Vice Championship titles for the team and its drivers.
