Having pistons under crown cooling jets is considered to be an improvement over having none.
(B18C vs B18A/B20B - case in point)
Generally the only reason you might delete them is due to exessive stroke or broken boss where the fit.
As for benifits, probably the only benift you will see is increased oil pressure if you remove them.
other than that, you're pretty much better off keeping them.
Honda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Mazda, Toyota, Ford, Chev, Suzuki, Volvo, BMW, Porche, Ferrari, Lamborgini, Mazeratti, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Peugot, VW etc etc
Can't all be stupid, all of these manufacturer's use piston under crown cooling jets for a reason.
But, by all means, if you know better, remove them.
If in doubt or you don't really have a valid reason to remove them then just leave them there.
(that's my 2c anyway)
I knew they were better for cast pistons, but I was reading that because forged pistons need more heat to expand, it may be of benefit to remove them.
Was just wondering what everyone was doing in NA builds with forged pistons
