Tyres: 225/45/17 opinions...

I'm looking for a less noisier, good wearing and decent all-round tyre now that my OEM RE040 are worn down to an unroadworthy state (done 50,000kms). I googled for some reviews but not much in depth ones, then I started going through pages and pages of old tyre related ozhonda threads and als rang up a few tyre places... I am still undecided on my next tyre investment???

Here are my choices with prices (Fitted+Balanced):
Yokahama C.Drive - $260
Dunlop FastResponce - $260 (was $290)
Pirelli P7 - $250 (on special apparently?)
Hankook V8 RS H424 - $215

Q1. Do the prices sound fair?
Q2. Which is the less noisier and better all-rounder?
Q3. Any others that I should also consider?

I have Toyo Proxes 4 tires, im very happy with them mine a 225/40/18 cost me 238 each. they make small amount of noise at low speed , but on the highway they are perfect.

Look at Michelin PS3.Approx1- 2mths.ago were on special for $238 a corner.

Federal 595 $105
Federal 595 EVO $170

@ sodhi90 - got a couple of "not recomended" from a few car "enthusiast" buddies who did have them, but they dont drive Euros though (WRX boys).
@ Tony1234 - the best I could get was $275
@ dark138 - that's cheap, but I read that they didn't last very long

After some more internet research and ringing around some more places, I finally found a local place that had good prices for most of the tyres I had narrowed down to and I ended up ordering a set of 4 Hankook V8 R-S for $180 each, which was a $35 saving per tyre from the cheapest quote I had gotten from other places.

I never felt confident in the wet or in corners on the OEM RE040s, I hope these Hankooks are better.

hmmmm are you staying with the factory tyre sizes?

I found that the 45's are still not a common size and attracts a bit more dollars compared to the more common 35.

Toyo teo's i was quoted at 230 each. Maybe lower with a bit of haggling.

Yes 225/45R17 not as common as say 235/45R17 (wrong size for CL9 anyway) but 35 profile on a 17" rim would have to be a 295/35R17. Not heard of such a size and the rim width probably wouldn't fit under the CL9 guards.

Consider the Dunlop Sport MAXX. It is less noisy, good wearing, decent and definitely round.

Have you considered Bridgestone Re001's?

There fantastic at around $220 a pop.
