Hey guys, just a quick question
what are the fees involved with transferring a vehicle within the family, eg. Dad giving his car to me and changing the registration from his name to mine.

why not leave it in his name??
and just put you as a driver on the insurance
its a percentage of the purchase price, it would be cheaper to keep it in ur dads name and cheaper on insurance to
because it might not be his dad and it could be an aunt or uncle or distant relative. unless that EG. is not an example and really its true lol. then why not leave in dads name lol
haha umm its because i have a healthcare card and i get a discount each year/also because of other reasons it would be preferable to have only 1 car to his name. Be that it is... cant i just say my dad sold me the car for like $100 and pay the $35 fee and whatever stamp duty is, i think the car should be able to get a rwc without much trouble
yer i just bought a turboed gemini and put down i payed 500 for it and the fee stamp duty was only 40 bucks
but what if he GAVE it and not sell it? then u dont pay stamp duty etc ? like if its my family my parents NEVER sell anything to me or my bros and sis. they give everything.
no. as in my dad was like..."Hey take this car and put it under ur name and rego so its urs. im gonna buy a new car. u dont have to pay me."
so NO, not paying for it. like i said, what if ur parents gave u the car as a gift or they didnt want it anymore or something and u did NOT pay for it.
i wish i had cars given to me.
well its not that my parents gave me a car. im also plannin on GIVING my car to my little sister. saves her from buyin one. plus im not gonna make any of my siblings or my parents pay me back if i give them something.
pay for stamp duty and rwc
