In case you don't frequent the sales sections, just letting you guys know my rvf is up for sale.
Feel free to check it out, and let me know if I have forgotten to include anything in the ad.
Grats on the purchase! Looks so damn comfy.
I imagine it would make a great commuter/long distance bike with the occasional squirt through the twisties.
An average-good condition mid 2000's CB400 will set you back 5.5-6.5k.
Pretty well priced when you compare it to other LAMS bikes imo.
I personally wouldn't spend the 6k for the (back then new)...
You ride the bike as its supposed to. You wouldn't be puttering around at low rpm on an I4 vs the parallel twin, so your argument of low speed overtake etc. is redundant.
Re; wet vs dry, it was all...
There is a reason they used the design of the 250 engine for so long.
It was reliable and tough as nails.
Yes, the 300 is an alright bike, but for the $7 000 you'll pay, you can get a whole lot...
LAMS and bargain should never be used in the same sentence.
OP, just get yourself a little shitbox bike to commute on when you get back.
A postie from the auctions can be had for about a grand last...
You'll quickly grow bored of the 300. They really don't offer much of an upgrade over the 250.
So little of an upgrade, that the price is hardly worth it.
Your best bet, if looking at new-ish...
Big bikes and new bikes are going to come with a price.
I would say stick with a cheap used 250 because at the end of the day you're a learner and you probably will drop it.
I imagine you want something bigger because you're a bit bigger yourself.
Check out http://cycle-ergo.com/ and go and sit on a few before you make any purchases.
That's the one DL. A friend of mine just bought one.
Doesn't quite hold its own compared to the older 4 cylinders, but still a step in the right direction compared to the new 250's.
Some nicer...
That NC looks pretty sweet! Had no idea that thing even existed!
Along those kinda lines, the Yama FZ6, Kawa ER6.
Not quite sportsbike, not quite cruiser.
