get as much of the black mass off as you can.
clean the remainder of the tar/glue with some carb-cleaner and rags or paper towels.
note: It's much easier to do in winter than in summer.

if people are putting in unsafe kit then i kind of understand.... but moving the plate a bit & you get slugged? Thats a bit harsh
What about engines? What can you swap in when the original engine get's too worn/tired? K24?
Tokico Ilumina's are BULLET-PROOF. I have a set on my ED9. 5-way adjustable. Some say they're a little stiff but I think they aren't stiff enough!
