Close Calls: of the Cager Kind!

So been riding my new bike for about two weeks now, and having a blast on it. Had the usual straying of people into my lane, pulling out in front of me, slamming on breaks etc etc. Had to do a couple full breaking tyre skids. But this morning on my way to work I had my first real scare.

I was filtering thro traffic, and someone decided to turn right in front of me from the oncomming traffic, cutting me off completely and blocking both lanes. I admit it was partially my fault for filtering thro traffic, but the guy was obviously not paying attention as i wasnt the only vehicle traveling, there were cars also, but the guy decided traffic was slow enough to cut everyone off. I on the other hand was doing about 45-50ks. So he cuts thro both lanes, and I dont see him till im about 5m away. I actually hear a voice in my head go "ohhhhh this is gonna suck". Lucky for me instincts kick in, my hand similtaneously hits teh break as my body swerves around the car. I was literally about half a foot away from him, i saw my front tyre pass within 3 inches of the fender of his car. I still cant believe i avoided the crash, but i realised as soon as my head registered the car, i was looking for the exit, staring thro the car, not at the passanger door. was a close call

wat close encounters have you guys had

    mate,
fk i had some dumb bitch turn out infront of me from a drive way. didnt see me at all.
hit the brakes and i came off. Bitch try to say, because i didnt hit her, there was no accident. I sed wtf u want me to end up under ur car than just off my bike. took it to court, bitch got owned. luck i had my alpine jacket. only a massive scar between from where my jacket sleeve ends and my gloves started.

    remeber this:

Its not IF you come off, it WHEN you come off.

No matter how safe you ride, theres still retarded cagers out there.

lol true that, dress for the slide not for the ride, ive only been at it two weeks and people are already like, haha fag!

my comback is always the same, how cool would i look if i was dead?

i see so many idiots (particularily on scooters and dirt bikes) wearing t shirts and shorts, and its not even hot out yet, wtf are they thinking??

there was a real good commercial in canada a while back, showed the perfect driver, hands at two and ten, checkinng mirrors all teh time, doing all the road rules, following 3 secs, and then its like....."u may be the best driver on the road....problem is"

then he gets t boned by a guy running the red, instadeath

    "he isnt"

its a great theory, drive for everyone on the road, not just yourself because u might be doing the right thing, but others almost certainly are not

yea i saw a car today just casually cruise into another lane that had a bike in it, but the bike honestly just acted like it was second nature, didnt even say anything to the car when he pulled up next to it at the lights(he was a big guy too)

is it that common that it doesnt even register to let the car know/abuse the other driver for doing it

theres not much point, getting urself all worked up over something

most do what i do and just shake my head and drive off.

you wouldnt yell at a child if he didnt know any better, and most cagers are just that, little children, completely oblivious to the world around them, so therse not much point getting in a huff when u could just ride around the next bend and be happily cruising the road again.

I was riding through Mt White - awesome twisties around there...
I was coming back up the hill, and its 2 lanes on the way up, so I wanted to practice my lean ins... I was doing the same on the way down the hill (one lane only down the hill)

I was doing roughly 120-130 around the long left hander, then i got to the next right hander which split into the 2 lanes (overtaking lane)... I took to the outside lane, then dropped in to make the right hand turn... I didn't even notice the reflectors on the ground, as I was turning and leaning in, my front wheel hit one of the reflectors and i felt the front end wabble... I quickly slowed down and straightened the bike back up...

It's been the scariest experience of my life, it may not seem like much, but when you're doing 120-130 around a corner, hitting the slightest rock could determine your fate...

I've had a semi-trailer cut me off once too, avoided it quite easily though ...

Yeah, cheers... Really woke me up though... I went straight home after that, we were going to do one more round of the twisties, but I was shitting my pants because I didn't want anything to happen...

I've had too many close calls...

true, ive seen some pretty stupid filtering, but if its done in the right situation i think its ok, as long as u have enough space and the traffic is at a standstill it can save u from being stuck in and among all the other traffic and getting cleaned up, sometimes its better to take the risk and be out the front away from all the shuffling i think
