Compressor (Air cond) failure and fused - where to take for repairs

    hi there
my 2003 euro's compressor has failed and fused . The car was not cooling despite a/c being turned on during a hot day. Took it to a mechanic's and they want $1k for parts and labour.

    Guys,
any good recommendations in South East, Victoria for
    1) air cond places
    2) mechanics that would replace compressor and fuse?

    Thank you.

Very cool. What's the lifespan of a compressor on a car? Mine's closing up to 6 yrs this september and it's stuffed up now.
My other rides (skyline which i was 9 yrs old when i sold her) ran without missing a tick and compressor was fine.

    Thank you.

save yourself the hassle, and dun call honda. they sell the compressor separately. you need that, then the clutch as well as the solenoid.
in perth, there's a place (dont remember the name) but they sell full compressors for 1/2 the price honda sells them for. comes in honda box with honda part number too (its from dubai)

if i can dig up the name, i'll let you know

    hello, Champ

    1) yeah, i wasn't going to call honda. Going to look out for a reconditioned one and head to NATRAD (the place i posted before - which i need some opinions)

    2) yeah, that would be great (as in the place that sells the compressors in perth ).

hmmm i wonder how much work is it (as in how many man hours? the guy quoted me 4 hours).....

The guy quoted me about that time too. But it ended up being longer. He had to take parts from my old one and replace them with the other one i had. My one was fully shattered.

i am just curious. They guy said the main fuse was fused. I wonder if replacing the fuse would fix the problem meaning i dont have to drop a new compressor in?

    interesting

a honda dealer would charge you about 4-5 hrs. however, i believe they change the condenser and the receiver/dryer as well. so close to a complete a/c unit.
