    Ducati 749 vs. cbr600rr

    Hey all,

Just after some different views here...

Taking a look at a couple of 749's this weekend, and hoping to ride some cbr's too...

There is an obvious price differential of a few thousand, this isnt a concern, and the servicing and maintenance costs of the DUc will be higher, but again im not concerned...

Are there any other differences that anyone here feels are pertinent that i may not be thinking about?

    Any thoughts?

the RR is cool, however the 749 is a completely different bike, serious power out of that Duke. Probably cheaper to run the honda, parts and servicing on a Duke can be expensive.

I'd go for the honda, my old man had a Ducati and it was very expensive to maintain.

Ducati's are not that expensive to maintain if you have abit of know how.
Just make sure you change the Timing Belts on schedule. I used to do this myself.
the only expense with a Ducati is there there are so many aftermarket parts for it.. :-p

on the bike, hmm...A ducati is very different, unlike a Japanese screamer, the VTwins give very usable power. If you're looking for a toy, the Ducati is it.

Its a bike that when you throw into corners, will look at you and go "is that all you got?"
e.g. Going into a turn, knee down on a GSXR750 have you going "fark, i'm gonna die" - On the Duke, its more like "hang on, this bikes got alot more than I can actually give."

Personally, I wouldn't bother with the 7s and go straight for the 9s...try and get hold of a 998s which in my opinion is the last of the greats in that series. the 999s..well..phht..the 1098s? Drool!

would love a 1098... :-) theres a really nice 999 on the market right now but out of my price range...

this is in the range of what i want to outlay, and it is a bit smaller in capacity as this will be my first bike.

    This is your first bike?!

Well before saying what you are suggesting is illegal, it is also stupid! Go and get a 250 or a heavier 500 that is LAMS approved.
See a good post? Give it a PQ point.

V twins vibrate the shit out of you, They (Ducati's) break down and have no top end power.
