    DC2R Timing Belt

    Hey

Looking at a dc2r atm, 2001 model with only 87000kms on it. Now just wondering with it being a 8 year old car would the timing belt need to be replaced around now or would it be right to be left for 6 months or so??

    Cheers

timing belts need to change every 100000kms. If a timing belt snaps there is a high probability of valve damage.

Regardless of the amount of kms. Things perish with age. If it has not been changed the belt is 8 years old. Change it and have peace of mind.

100,000km's or 6 years, what ever comes first. Rubber exposed to heat and then becoming cooled, becomes brittle with age. It could snap. The sooner you replace the better.

    this is true..

rubber tends to stiffen up over time meaning its prone to break easier..

and you dont wanna wait until that happens. alot of things can go wrong
