    dc2r and oil

Okay so ive been told that the dc2r will naturally use oil from alot of high revving and this is normal and is not harmfull. Thoughts on this dc2r owners or past owners, did/does your dc2r use oil? If so how much

Im curious because i had my racq inspection done on a dc2r the other day and it came back oil level low, monitor oil usuage. The inspector reckons it was on the lower end of the dipstick. All the emmisions tests passed so there is no oil coming out the exhaust and seeing where the car is parked it is not dropping oil.

    Thanks

When was the oil level of the DC2R last checked and topped up? If it was low after 1000km of driving after topping up to the max line, then that is heavy oil consumption.

My oil level is sitting on fuel to the brim after 6000 km's. Doesn't burn a drop on track days also. I use 5w-30, engine is stock with 110,000km's on it. I don't get how people accept that that their engine burn a heap of oil and tell people it's 100% normal and fine.

the valve seals may be worn out and oil seeps through it.

That's good yours doesn't burn oil but it's not normal.
A lot of vehicles (some near new as part of manufacturers advice) out there are known for their consumption of oil, even more so than higher revving Hondas in normal use.

thanks for the advice guys, cancelled the car though, i think ive given up on buying a dc2r. Its a high performance car which requires high maintnance and for some reason all the ones ive seen people have taken short cuts or the car has been to 5 different workshops and had 5 different types of oil run through it.

Decided better to keep my ek and i might build it up as i know the history of the car and its immaculate with really low kms.

Bit of cash spent and it will be a dc2r eater.

np. it's general wear and tear. if it happens to your ek, get your mechanic to do a head service.

I think if you build your ek its going to be just as a high maintenance motor as a b18, if not more.

If your planning to do a engine swap you will probably end up with a b18 any way lol
