You don't loose your VTEC...your A3 motor just runs on 12-valves until 5800 RPMs then it switches to 16-valves.
With the A3 ECU it switches from 12-valves to 16-valves at 2200 RPMs. A2 ECU on a A3 motor with the A3 head will decrease your performance by a lot. A kid on ephatch.com ran a few 1/4-mile tests with the A2 ECU and A3 ECU and he ran high 15s (15.7-15.9) with the A3 ECU (On his stock Si) and high 16s with the A2 ECU on his A3 motor. Makes sense because all you're doing is switching the VTEC from 2200 RPM to 5800 RPM. Also like hotwheelz stated you're running leaner...and it's just not alittle leaner it's A LOT leaner. If you drive for awhile hotwheelz your CEL will come on for being too lean
