Reccomendations for Honda Jazz Speaker Upgrade? Need help

    Hey guys,

Well I've finally decided to upgrade the crappy stock speakers on my '04 Jazz. However, I'm not sure which speakers I should get. My father owns a Nissan Tiida that has an incredibly good stock sound system that has a suprisingly good bass. I'm not sure if it has subs in it or if they are just good quality speakers.
I can't find out if I'm going to need an amp to help power some good quality speakers. Also, I don't know if I need to install the two front and the two back speakers or just the front ones. I'm up for buying any speakers as long as they are around the same size (or slightly bigger) that the stock speakers because I can only fabricate a mount so big.

    So...any suggestions or answers?

    Thanks

I would recommend spilts all round and a four channel amp to power them, could be quite pricey to do that tho. But you'll get some decent mid range bass and awesome treble

Thanks for that. Is it possible to power 4 speakers without an amp?

yes its possible but youd be limiting their potential. might as well get cheapo no-name ebay ones if you wanna waste what splits are capable of.

give us a budget to work with, and if it will include installation.

and id reccomend splits up front, amp, spend the rest on some sound deadner. imo you'd get(see/hear) better results with that than splits all-round.

any plans for a sub in the future?

have you got an aftermarket head unit?

I'm on a budget of around $400 or $500 dollars in total. I've heard great things about aftermarket head units but I can't install one because the jazz dash layout isn't built for a quick headunit swap/install. Is there an easy way to get some sort of mount or bracket to put an aftermarket head unit? I don't think I'll get a sub in future just because of the weight of the thing, the jazz is slow enough lol

Yea you can buy a facia for a jazz which eliminates the old head unit and you can fit aftermarket ones but they are also very expensive lol(300 - 400 dollars just for the facia). If you dont plan to run amps just pick up some decent 2 or 3 way speakers.

You do not need an amp to power speakers, your headunit should suffice. However do not go around buying quality speakers and using your headunit to power them. Buying some pioneer or kenwood 2 way or 3 way speakers will do you fine. Depending on your size, they go for about $40-70 for a pair. Don't need to change your rears if you don't have want to, i mean, you're sitting up front right? :P

A facia for your dash is a good idea if you want to change to an aftermarket headunit however it can prove a bit on the expensive side, still it doesn't hurt to hit up google and research it. I remember i installed a facia into my mates mazda 3 and it was only $140 from stinger and it works fine. Came in 7 pieces though hahaha

Like someone said above, if you plan on improving your sound system in future or simply getting a sub to improve bass, maybe look into buying a 4 channel amp which can be bridged. Bridged is when you take 2 channels from the amp and "combine" them together to say simply. This "combined" channel will power your sub while the 2 remaining channels can power your speakers up front. the remaining rear speakers can be powered off your headunit as you will barely even notice them.

Your call though, with a small budget like that, i'd be looking into getting a facia with an aftermarket headunit, and some normal 2 or 3 way speakers (aka coaxial speakers). That'll make you happy

IF you want to upgrade in future, you can add an amp and a sub later and upgrade your speakers if you wish. Remember, labour isn't cheap, you get what you pay for (unless you do it or you know someone who CAN do it)

i reckon a pair of splits and a two channel amp to power a subwoofer would be a good upgrade from the stock sound system.
MB Quart 6" Splits: 230 but some jb's are selling them for 164 http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/car-s...=detail-button
Kicker amp + 2ch sub: 336 from jb as well. http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/car-s...=detail-button

from what i've experienced the MB Quart splits are awesome for their price, provide a clear high range trebel, and a decent midrange at about 40Watts RMS, they can be runned directly from an after market head unit and that kick sub + amp combo should give you a decent punch. Im running the same pair of splits but with a JL 300/4 amp and a 12w0 sub and it sounds bloody amazing, im not even running any rear speakers but the JL amp+sub combo is more expensive. The kicker combo should be, definitely a big upgrade from the factory sound system.

ps: my MB quart splits are connected directly to the headunit, dont have time to connect them to the amp yet and because they sound so good already i just cant be bothered :P
