Wouldn't say it's a common fault but wouldn't say it's an uncommon fault either. If that makes sense!

Its not common but it happened to my 04 euro also.... doesn't detect throttle position so equals to butterfly valve opening up hence no power =(...

Mine had a slight flat spot just of idle mainly noticeable on take off from a set of lights.I had this for a few months then 1 day the check engine and vsa lights came on.Computer was reset and all was good. This lasted over 3 weeks. The APP sensor was then replaced. As i said before HA replaced it under good will.

Mine was more severe, car shunts violently... and then no power even when throttle is depressed all the way down... this is when i knew it was screwed.. lol... turn off the engine and turned it back on and it worked for a bit and same thing happened... got worse and worse as i left it unattended... eventually happened every 5 mins...

Looks like Sameol3, tony1234 and I had the same problem with faulty APP sensor. (Acceleration Pedal Positioning?).

This link has previous posts (post #26 onwards) on my experience.

it is ALOT worse with AC on.
if you think its on its way to heaven, try this...

On a freeway, turn the Ac on, hold speed/rev then dab the accelerator.

If your APP switch is playing up, you will get a slight hesitation before the car pickes up speed.

This is only one method to test though and not exactly foolproof. the guys as Honda said this is the easiest way of testing.
