Thread: Turbo 3g lude

  1. #277
just bought some BLING for the lude . got x2 tow hooks delivered to my door for $25 brand new , cant complain with that as at the moment its near impossible for any type of towing with the height and front bar . couldnt find any cheap orange hooks , and have plan on mounting these as i'll need to make acouple of extention brakets . no biggy tho .

yeah !!!!!!!!! im back in the game , started first try again this morning after a retime and change of battery . have slight tuning issues as the wideband is alot further away from the turbine then before , but the LSD is AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wish i got it done years ago and the more i drive it the better (worse) the clutch gets which is a good thing for when we turn up the boost . limiters are set to 3500-3600 rpm and work great .

I'm a bit sus on that Tow Hook.
Is it rated? Is it a good brand?
And i've seen the 'no name eBay' ones bend before, they are not to be trusted.

Also that strikes me as a very odd way to run in a high performance Motor, and you shouldn't require limiters.. Get the thing on the dyno straight away and avoid all the hassle of run-in.
It's not 4x4 status, think of it as "Winter Mode".

sorry fella's , been abit slack in reply'n . i spun a big end last wed and its dead again , im going all out this time as i have a spare block thats going into the engine builder for a over bore from 81mm to 83.5mm , new 83.5mm weisco pistons with a static CR of 8.0:1 , CP ring kit and eagle h-beam rods . should take me to just under 2.2ltrs and a brand new crank / oil pump / water pump and new rod and main bearings (ACL race series) new cometic 84mm 5 layer 0.050" MLS head gasket to top everything off . its a pain this has happened but im better to get this done and pay the engine builder to assemble and get all my bearing clearence's perfect and to honda's specs so i get no more fails . just waiting to hear back from the bank tomorrow if there going to lend me another $4500 . we'll see what happens i guess ? i should be all good and back on the road by christmas tho .

Sorry i didnt get much of that
    How'd you blow your motor?

  10. #286
unsure as i havnt pulled it down yet but im thinking a big end bearing has spun , and i have a funny feeling that the oil pump had failed to provide enough oil for the rod bearing and spun it . i have just gave the cross member a slight grind so the dump pipe flange had clearence and gave a few small rev's to 3000rpm on the driveway and it just locked up and stopped instantly at 3000rpm , i then unlocked it with my breaker bar and dropped the oil and there is slight fines in the oil so im guessing its a big end . no biggy mate as i'll pay a engine builder to assemble the bottom end and line bore the main's if needed and get all the bearings to the right clearence's that honda recommend in there workshop manual . will be pulling the engine back out next week and pulling down to see what has failed .

Didnt you do the oil pump and bottom end when you did the car?
Did you rev it to 3000rpm when it was cold? with boost?

  12. #288
na the oil and water pumps were never changed , the engine was at operating temp (83°) . should here back from the bank tomorrow and then i can start organising the rebuild of the new bottom end , should have the engine out and pulled down by this weekend and find out where it failed .
