Exclamation all in one del sol leakage fix up

finally got some time to write this up,
first of all dont blame on my poor english lol
here i will talk abt how to fix 3 common water related issue on a sol
but don't quote on me if it doesn't help

first one will be the most common one
the water leak on the top end corner on the A pillar

    1) wind down the window
    2) stand behind the door and use yr knee to push against the handle
    3) meanwhile pull the "triangle" on its tip backward a bit

after years of slamming action (passenger side spot on lol)
the triangle thing will come loosen
that is where the water comes in
but if it doesn't help i got another alternative fix
    will write it up later

secondly, the blocked drain pipe for the back window
if u found a fish tank behind u
water splashing while u're cornering hard
DO IT BEFORE YR TRUNK GETS SOAKED!!

    1) take off the rear half of the centre panel (one screw under the coin box if u don't know)
    2) pry off the upper middle panel of the back
that one between the speaker grills, use some force to pry it, no screwing action needed
    3) take off the speaker grills
    4) undo the screws of the lower back centre panel (two hidden under each wtever compartment)

    5) unplug the two rubber tubes from the chassis

    6) use a 3mm plastic tubing of anything similar to push/force it up from the drain pipe
the 3mm tubing can be found in bunnings, it's recommend becoz it won't punch through the drain
    pipe in case sh_t happens

third one, the water dips under the glove box
this is sort of a faulty design, the water comes in from the fresh air intake and to the blower!!
one way to prevent this is turn it to in-car air circulation whenever it rains or u park yr car outside
but then, when it rains real farking heavy, it still can't help much

    1) remove yr wiper arms
    2) undo (break) those caps one the...wtever(TRUST ME U WILL BREAK THEM)

    3) locate all the rectangular clips that still holding the wtever panel
    (i 4got to take a pic but that's pretty self-explanatory)
    4) this is the clip i m talking abt, undo them in the direction shown

    5) lift up the wtever panel, u will find this on the passenger side

this is the fresh air intake, where the water goes it
picture shows when in-car circulation is used

this is when open circulation is used, u can actually see the blower fan
    6) this is wt i hv done, think yr own and make yr own

in case u f_cked up all the plastic caps
    here's wt u might need

    get them from ebay

THIS IS THE ULTIMATE FIX FOR THE A-PILLAR LEAK

first of all u need some silicone sealant and "tools"
if u can't think of wt tool to use then u are not capable for this fix, sorry

in my case the leak in the a-pillar is due to one of the previous owner sealed up the drain!! (hack yes...)
the red arrows are pointing to the drain hole in the rubber of A and B-pillar
check that out if anyone did the same thing to yr car
test if water could go away quickly, if not, drain it (u are the one to think how)

    A-pillar

    B-pillar

if nothing's wrong with the pillars
check out the drain holes at the four corners of the targa roof
    passenger side front

    driver side rear

driver side front (mine had a split and i sealed it up)

for peace of mind i think it's no harm to add some sealant on the top corner of the A-pillar
just to make sure water runs away in the way they are supposed to

finally, before u put the roof back on
make sure all the drain holes (4X roof corners + 4X pillars) are clear enuf to let the water go
my instructions might not be clear enuf to guide it all
but then when u follow the steps and actually take a look at yr car and compare with the pictures
it's pretty self-explanatory and know wt i m talking abt here
again sorry for my very limited english
if moderators u think this is helpful
plz pin it on the top
enjoy yr del sol without water issues

dayam i did the front rain gutter on the weekend and didnt see this thread so i didnt think to make that little shield over the fan intake.

just another tip to Del Sol owners, clean the dust n leaves n gunk out of the feeder chanells that run into the drains.. flush with water to ensure the water is draining to the ground (at the front side of the wheel-arches) without restriction. Also u can slide your hand down that chute and remove any leaves from the fan - this made the heater fan muc much quieter and more effective

HAHA only broke one - one was allready broken (so 2 in total) HAHA
if u have one of those special pointy poker things they are a lot easier to get out - generally break them if u try n use a screwdriver etc :P Like i did..

    5) if u can find those two red circled rubber tubes, they are the drain pipe. they are connected to the chassis, simply unplug them
    6) find anything suitable for the job, sth that can be bent but strong enuf to push away the blockage

    hope it helps

Does anyone have the fan problem? Only turns on when on the higest setting.
Its not the switch I dont think as the aircon kicks in but the fan doesnt unless on highest.

Great thread by the way. Thankyou so much
