    Hey peeps,
I'm new to the forum and I've got another burning question to ask about my overpriced Civic I bought. It seems to me that the automatic transmission from the first gear to the second isn't as smooth as I would expect. How smooth should the transmission be anywayz, or am I being paranoid? :?

Does it jerk into gear? More detail on the gear changes thanks.

Have you taken it to get the transmission looked at? The oil might need to be changed or the bands could do with some adjusting.

    Hey Mo,

even though I don't rev the car, it still jerks right before it changes gear even at low rpms (probs about 3 - 4k) and the jerk is most noticeable when changing from 1st to 2nd. Any ideas to what is wrong? Thanks for the help!

It's probably your bands. They can be loosened up so that gear changes are smoother. Or, you probably need more oil. Or, the bands are stuffed. :?

See a transmission specialist (a workshop that has done Honda's before) and get them to do a checkup.

The Auto transmission seems to Jerk somewat on Honda cars after riding in a few and mine being Auto aswell...Some jerking seems to be normal, and it will never be as smooth as the Toyota Transmissions but if it is jerking alot then get the transmission oil changed.

After you get the oil changed it should feel alot more smother as did the last time I got a major service....

hey there...i got the same problem with my 92 nissan pulsar ti. auto etc. from 1st-2nd it jerks when your just going slow n stuff, but i notice when i give it a boot, its a bit smoother, but its unatural to keep speeding thru 1st n 2nd, its quite annoying me ay...im selling this car, buying a EK coupe or integra or somethin along those lines, but yeah sorry i cant help the only advice i can say is, i changed the oil and it still did it, so i dont think its that, probably that belt thing needs to be adjusted what them other boys been tellin you..

anyways..good luck with it, try asking somebody at ultra tune or something, they probably got a good idea of what it might be..

    peace
