    ITR Gearbox crunching 5th gear

    Hi All,

Got a 98 spec ITR gearbox with the 4.7 FD. Going to 5th gear on low rpms / speeds will cause the gearbox to have some sort of crunching / buzzing type sound. However I don't feel any resistance or knocks on the gearstick. It shifts in very smoothly. If I am going 60km on 4th gear and shift to 5th, I get this noise. Any higher than 65-70km +, I don't hear any noise whatsover.

The gearbox was 2nd hand and new oils have been put in. I also put in an Exedy sports organic clutch as well when the gearbox was out.

Anyone know why this is the case ? I had this problem in my s2k before where it only crunches in low rpms.

sounds like a synchro issue to me... what kind of oil was used?

Just found out the issue is not the gearbox. The stick was hitting the exhaust heat shield. Re-adjusted this and no more sound.. thanks god...

i have a similar problem. but with my b16 gearbox. higher revs it will crunch 4th - 5th, i can feel slight resistance on the stick whilst it crunches :/. Gotta get me some fresh synchros!

and hmm.. I have a dc5r, and I've never had any crunching with the gears. the only notchiness I've felt is in an s2k

I had a gearbox crunchin issue, but it wasn't the gearbox it was actually me not putting the clutch all the way in. Always my bad habbit I guess,

thankfully now it shifts like a dream.

Not sure man, I only found out when my uncle told me. Then when I started driving after he told me, I then relized. Probably my seat is sitting to far back. Oh who knows leasts its solved now .

    Haha on-ramp challenges are hard
