Mod plate needed when returning seats to stock WTF???

    The title says it all.

I spoke to a guy who does mod plates and he says you can't chop and change seats. Ie; if the Mrs hates the aftermarket bucket seat bolsters, you can't legally just put back in the stock seat.

And apparently, he says you need a new mod plate (total money grab) when you return the seats to stock upon sale/part out time. Using this logic, if you were to say, change your carpet, you would need a mod plate because you removed the seats to do it. There's no method to this beaurocratic nonsense.

Is there any ways around this? What's to stop me from not getting a mod plate when the stock seats go back in? Who would be wiser about it?

    Totally.

And this guy was recommended by another member (I'm not gonna name and shame anyone) for being cheap and good. What a load of crap.
