component tweeter kicking in and out possible problems?

hey all, got my new audio set-up professionally installed a week ago, whilst driving home the tweeter on the drivers door started kicking in and out, sometimes it sounds like sh!t and other times its fine i just dont get it.

Probably shorting on something... Take it back to them and get it fixed. I don't know who installed it, but any good installer would fix the issue for you, since they installed the system, and it's buggering up.
Don't touch it, cause they won't do anything if you play with it.

yeh anything done professional should be taken back to the "professional"

If you dont wanna do that.

Probably either
1. shorting (wire touching metal/another wire)
2. faulty tweeter
3. faulty crossover

Its a very straight forward process so i doubt it can be anything else.

Lot of the 'pro' workshops aren't even pro so careful who you go to.

Very few workshops do some honest work.

E.g street sound vision in Thomastown Victoria, charged me 2grand for just labour and did the most disgusting install in my car of front and rear splits and sub.

2 grand at Frankston car audio would've gotten me an amazing installation.

That is true.. Frankston would have been awesome.

Nonetheless, Go back to the installers and tell them to fix it. You SHOULD have a lifetime warranty. read: Should.

Dude..

Check the +pos & -neg wires on your tweeter.

1)
Make sure they are not shorting.

Make sure they are wired to the same terminals on the crossover (box) which says tweeter.

Make sure the x-over is wired up correctly

Input = the sound source from the head unit speaker.

Output consists of two.
Tweeter = this is where u wire up your tweeters
Midrange = this is were your midrange speakers wire up to.

If u dont have a crossover, check the small capacitor thats either inline with the wires (small pcb board with a capacitor) OR check the magnet of the tweeter, the capacitor should be soldered on.

If all still fails, then u got a dud of a kit. Bring it back for replacement.
