    K20a vs k20z

    Hey
Doing a bit of research on the 2 k20s and wondering what makes the difference in peak torque on both of the engines??? The k20a get peak at 5k while it takes the k20z at 7k rpm to it peak torque. I know the k20s apparently has 2 different types of speed sensors and the they both have itr cams and the k20z has different exhaust cam. Did i miss anything that contributes to that and the slight power difference???

most of the internals would make a slight power difference, the k20a was made in early 2000s and k20z in 2006,

    lol such crap info here

depends which k20a your talking about.

    There is the AUDM K20A2 147kw @7400rpm peak power , 192nm @6000rpm peak torque .. 11:0 Comp Pistons, redlines 7800rpm fuel cut at 8200rpm

    JDM K20A 160kw @8000rpm peak power , 206nm @7000rpm peak torque, 11:5 comp pistons, redlines 8800rpm

    AUDM K20Z1 , 154kw @ 7800rpm peak power, 194nm @7000rpm peak torque, 11:0 comp pistons, 8300 redline

the k20z shares the same camshafts as the jdm k20a, is quite similar with the exception of the 11:0 comp pistons

the audm k20a2 is watered down version basically

But i know the k20z has a more restricted exhaust compared to the type rs?? Potential wise shouldnt it be as good as k20a?

    Wrong.
Type S exhaust is actually a better free flowling exhaust than the Type R exhaust.
Theres a few threads about this

well get rid and replace it with the type r probs be same as the k20a2?
Anyways i keep thinkin jdm engines are better because they have octane 100 there so they can run high compressions.
    thanks for the help though

Between the K20a2 and K20z1 are these differences noticeable?
