Drifter's First gen civic build thread. Turbo engine obtained. Cuz maccaswage

So, Been sussing out whether or not I should chuck up a build thread, And always thought 'Not going to, till I get my first mods done' well, I've done my first mod.. Figured it's about time.

    Specs:
    1977 Honda Civic 4door Sedan
Massive 1500 EC motor, raking in an approximate 60hp NEW
And by my calculations, should be somewhere around the -78hp mark by now (going by the 4 horsepower loss each year point)
    Is british racing green
2inch exhaust from flexibit onwards, goes into a lukey racing muffler, and 2inch pipe out the arse

My sister bought it off an old man who had it since new (only had 78~thou km's on it, when she picked it up) Bought it off her with 120,000~ km's on it, absoultely loved the little thing. And now, has just over 160,000~ on it.

Have some Speedy Hyperfang mags lying in the spare room, ready to put on, if the need arises (cruise or if I feel like it)

Stock as a rock coils (Independant suspension all around, yeaaaah)

    Plans for the future:
    -Rebuild turbo engine
    -Drop turbo engine in
    -Buy mags for car
-buy new disc brakes, shoes and stuff for new drums
    -Put on new hubs
    -Put on new mags
    -Buy bc racing coilovers
    -Respray car
-Rechrome/ touch up all chrome/ touch up all emblems and such

have lots planned, but because maccaswage, whilst renting, it's hard to do much for it ><

    Pics:

Bogstock when I was selling it (was selling to buy an eg, never sold it)

How it looked when I chucked the mags on

    How it looks now:

    Fender mirrors are a go.
Excuse the pictures, half were iphone, half were my phone (old nokia 6230) and yeah.. bad quality xD

Should mention, I did get that Eg I was selling this for.. but ended up crashing it... D: Lost the arse end in the wet, and crashed into a light pole. Got out without injury bar a scrape up my side, and a cut on my finger and knee. Lucky.

Which is the main reason I'm back to the ol' beast

    Newer updates:
Pictures of it with the new fender mirrors and the mags on:

not great photos.. but you get the idea ;D

Update from picking up the new engine:
    Finally, an update
prepare for the worst camera photos ever. couldn't find the real camera, so I used my phone. They looked better on the phone than they do on the computer...

I didn't take any photos on the way down at all... because well, I'm a clever person :>

Here is a picture of the rio's arse at the house with the engine in the back

Look at that mad low /sarcasm

    bits and bobs picked up:

That's two lights (just in case... will be upgrading to semi sealed soon)
A radiator, which appears to be in very good condition
two front hubs... one has a snapped stud
two rear hubs. I may have to drill these or get a new plate made up... the bolt pattern is wrong... but eh

The engine... in the little light we had, and from the bad camera:

There is a turbo somewhere on the side there, haha. very teeny tiny one.

And this one is the grille and center console... you can barely see them, but they are there

When I find the camera, I'll take some decent photos.

    on the cards now;
-Go to brads, finish the sub box
-Take of head of motor, take it to get reconditioned
-Strip down bottom end, send block off to get reconditioned (bored, planed, etc)
-Buy rebuild kit for it (So, gaskets, seals, rings, etc etc)
    -Put engine back together
-Try to move mx-5 out of the way, or into the shed
-Put civic in shed, and start the swap. should be mass fun

Update with better pictures of the grille and center console:
Better pictures of the grille and console:

And yes, the carpet in the unit is old... guess the carpet matches the car. hah

    More progress to be had
have an audio install log on another forum, which covers everything audio wise xD

That was all copied over from the other forum I'm on... Will update here as well with progress... as slowly as it happens, haha.
    Enjoy

I like the way it sits now - maybe just some over-fenders and a little bit more low, but only like an inch if that. Please don't put coilovers on it - the spring harshness will tear the car apart!

This is cooler than the civic you wrote off.

You rekon? I'm going to get some new wheels that have a bit more rubber, so it doesn't jump as much as it does now... and the coils may make it harder >.>
But bc racing is apparently making fully adjustable coils for it now it's either that or get king springs which may not work overly well :/

as for wheel choices, going to get some performance superlites

Haven't updated in a long time...
Guess what's happened since last time? Not much ;D

Ordered a thicker rear sway/ anti-roll bar (under the car), saving up for an engine crane and stand to rebuild the engine, then gaskets.
put the stock wheels back on, cause I got sick of the scrubbing every day on the way to work or town. roads, why you suck so much.
Also, coilovers are on hold for now. Found out my rear suspension style is not the same as the ones the coilovers are made for. Sent some pictures of what I have to the dude in the know/ who helped make them. got told it's the same as the early cvcc 1200 civics. but, on the upside, I apparently helped him out a bit with that. so coilovers should be ready for sale before autumn.

And senna, the coilovers shouldn't shake the thing apart. The guy who developed them made sure they felt as nice as stock ride (if not a tiny bit better) so at minimum legal height (in the uk) they felt great. Shouldn't shake the car apart. Should be all good

So then, question for you all: What colour should I paint the sway/ roll bar?
    Thoughts were:
    -Hot pink
    -Purple
    -Same colour as the car
    -Red
Other ones put out there by friends:
    -Yellow
    -White
    -Gold
    -Gay rainbow

Other than that, once engine is up on a stand, it'll get a complete overhaul. if the block looks pretty tired, I'll get it reconditioned, a re-hone and bore if it needs it, get the head re-done. maybe get a lumpy cam if they can do it. get the turbo checked out. paint the block, paint the rocker cover, get the exhaust manifold ground back to bare metal (if it has any metal left... looks pretty rusted. if it's shot, I'll see if they can use the bit closest to the block, and make custom extractors.
Will do the upgrade to get 15psi out of the bastard. get me an intercooler to fit in the radiator spot to the left of the radiator. Paint it black to hide from the coppers. Blow off valve. and we should be nearly done. then I'll just have to get it all hooked up.
Also need to rip the eg apart and nick it's front rotors and callipers... Might just nick the callipers and get some brand new rotors. Get the brake booster as well, just in case. and do the hub swap. use the eg's wheels for that, and we should have something to roll on for then till funds come in for new wheels.
Then guard roll, and we should be at a spot where it's good for a bit. Once it's at that point, just work on the small things, like tint, carpet, stereo, seats, etc.

I love this, its awesome! I'm in Hobart dude, so hopefully one day when this things going somebody organises a big cruise and I can see it!

I have BC racing coilovers for my EG, and on full 'boat' spec, they're softer than stock I'd say.

Out of curiosity, what IS the engine?

    Thanks dude
Yeah, that'd be awesome. got some people in hobart area with first gens they are looking to do up as well, would be awesome
ah cool. This helps more >:3

And the motor is (I am fairly sure) An er-t motor out of a Honda City Turbo1. Haven't had a chance to double check (will need to for gaskets, cause apparently audm turbo1's were carby, and this is injected)
But yeah, I'm keen to get it going again. Should be awesome

    update:
Finally got my rear sway bar in the mail. Looks pretty plain in black though. Thinking I may paint it a nice red or something. Maybe something stupid like pink, just for maximum lulz.

Will probably install it on saturday/ sunday, as I promised the guy selling it I'd take pictures of it, and let him know it fits

The car however is currently running a bit rough. Is booked in to get a service on friday morning. Hopefully they can fix it for cheap enough. If the carby is buggered (which It may very well be) I'll see which carby out of the two I have is worth putting in, and worth rebuilding. If the engine itself is well buggered (not likely, but a possibility) I'll just park it at prospeed, rip the engine out, paint the bay, clean it up, get everything ready for the new engine, and start getting the new engine ready.
Else, if it's easy fix, shall keep driving it till I have the new engine all ready and done

Progress, she is slow, but she gets there.

So, found a car that's good inspiration:

Cept, mines four door, has different everything... yada yada yada...
-Will be going same colour for wheels sizes will be something like 14x6.5 +20 front and 14x6.5 +15~ for rear (depending on how the new hubs change it all)
-colour matched bonnet (instead of matte black. Car is going to be same green, with some different pearls 'n' stuff in it)
-front air damn (if I can find one of those)
-Probably as low as he's trying to go (which it sits with tyres just at guards iirc currently, and he wants it a lot lower).
-Some negative camber at the front to get the wheels to fit, and some at the rear (if I can) to fit the rears
-Rolled guards to fit wheels as well

Air damn is proving to be a prick to find. He found that first gen crx mugen spoilers work well (which is what he has pictured. Think it's a replica though. maybe) So, if I can find one of these (fiberglass replica obviously) that'd be ****.
Exterior is pretty much planned. Not sure what to do with exhaust tip. If I can get an exhaust past the sway bar, I was thinking 2-2.5"~ dori pipe... but not 100% sure how that'll look. 'Spose we'll see when we get to that stage.
Still sorting sway bar... well, I say that... It's just sitting behind me not doing much.
Also found out I may be able to use my eg8's hubs, and get disc brakes all around > Else, still got the second gen hubs lying around.
I should stop replying to this till I actually have progress... I'm bad at build threads :3

Also just got offered 2x hyashi street knock offs for $280~ posted... 14x6 +13 in 4x120. Also says he can get a matching pair in 14x7 +7 for a similar price... to do this for meantimes, or not to... hmmmmmm

Spoiler for front air dam obtained.
    So, Option a:

    Or option b:

The air dam hits on the inside sides, so that'll be ground back a bit, which'll move it back an inch or so, then I'll angle it a tad more (it's all I could do wedged on the car) Not too low though, otherwise it'll scrape when I get coilovers which I've been informed that I can get the current ones now -.- Time to save for them
Will fill the spoiler with expanda foam prolly to stop any potential rattles from the sub, and just to make it more solid (and mount a bit better) Will bend some metal for brackets, and sikaflex them onto the spoiler, then put some screws or bolts into it to keep it there. sikaflex for added insurance. Should look good
Next order or business is should I paint it green or black? (once it's all fitting snugly that is)
