Idle Speed Problem

Hello All

Some help required...

Recently returned from a holiday and started up the Jazz after 2 weeks of no use. Even once the car has warmed up the idling speed constantly goes up and down from 1000rpm to 2000rpm. Have done a bit of digging on the web and have seen suggestions about cleaning the IACV? The model is a 2003 CVT

Why don't you start off by disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a minute or so, and reconnect. This resets the ECU. It may fix your problem it may not. Seems a weird problem though.

Take the car for a drive and clear out any deposits that may have accumulated in the last 2 weeks.
If the reset doesn't work, you may need to clean the IACV, you'll have to take the throttle body off and clean with brake cleaner and a toothbrush, fairly easy job, just time consuming ~40min for a DC5R, not sure for a Jazz.

yeah clean out the TB with throttle body cleaner, its easy to disconnect the air box, once its off, use the throttle cable behind the TB to open the TB and spray in it and around it, dry it up with a rag, then switch on the engine and spray more in while its running, it should run rough while your doing it. and clean the sensor too. if it still runs rough its either spark plugs/ignition coil/O2 sensor. but go to the mechanics to figure out exactly which one.
