You've got the spirit, just have a small buffer in case of tow trucks, radiators, pipes/manifolds cracking, etc.

It's not just turboing Hondas that it happens to, accidents and shit happening does not discriminate.
Thanks for the info & what to be weary of, Okay I hope all goes well, Does anybody know anyone in AUS whos done a Turbo kit Install, DIY or mechanically installed. I would like as much info before I throw myself into the pit. As the car is my daily, I was wondering If I begin the DIY on a friday night Id hope that I can drive to work on a monday morning.

I would not be leaving yourself such a small window for the car to be finished, especially if you have not done this before. You will also need to create a oil return feed to your sump & depending on if you are running a water cooled turbo, coolant feeds as well

Id start by writing a list of what you need. Triple check the list then buy all the products. Set every thing up on the floor ensuring you have the right flanges between turbo header's, oil cooler lines and sand wedge plate ect. Depending if you weld you will need to take your slump to get a bung welded in for the return line. Or buy a MOROSO slump. Then allow a week for install and a couple of days for tune. Wouldn't drive car before tune!!!!

    Good luck!

yeah true, man this actually might take a little longer than I thought. I definately need to do a little more research on the specific turbo kit I will purchase, and suss out which might actually be the easiest in terms of install.

If you have not been on club rsx then i think you should. A lot of the guys in the states have turboed their dc5 (rsx over in the states) and there are a lot of threads on there. Have a read and you'll find what you need. You might have to make an account which isnt too hard.

I would definitely stray away from the "Godspeed" turbo kit. I also dare say the turbonetics kit is not genuine.

If a turbo kit is only going to cost you 1-1.3k, I can guarantee unless it's a well used kit it is pieced together with cheap components.

See if you can buy a reputable branded kit from the states and try to get it complete with ecu and loom.

Give it atleast two weeks if you're doing it yourself then extra time to get it towed and tuned.

I would rather pay a workshop 2-3k for install and tune for piece of mind unless I was really mechanically minded

firstly, reasons why its 6k is the turbo kit, most ppl dont buy a cheap egay kit, odds are its infact a greddy kit or some other off the shelf kit, OR even a custom job

Stay away from cheap turbo kits, for a very good reason, they have very shit tolerances an chances are they will blow there seals after 15,000kms of driving, as advised by a turbo specialist

IMO go greddy kit, and be done with it... less headaches, its designed to be fitted with ppl who plan on DIY at home and it has everything u need, its designed for the stock block k20 in mind.

Turbonetics is okay, cant say im a fan of em, they just look so cheap, maybe that explains it all, cheap an from china jus rebranded who knows, but they are ppl who use em so cant really say they are bad turbo kit, the price says it all

AND also u didnt factor in the shipping cost, so add another 450 + custom duty an taxes so prbs a bit more than 1.2k

and also u factor in a new HD clutch to cope with the added power?

Though i dont own a k20 vehicle, all turbo honda's are in the same boat wen comes to turbocharging lol
