Loud door clicking noise

drivers door makes a clicking noise when opening and closing, on the opening way out, it goes click click to fully open.
and when closing it does the same. sometimes only 1 click.

Could it be the hinges?
someone else said something about a ball clicking into place, somwehere in the rod between the car and the door.

couple bolts loose either side of the rod thing in the car door. tightened them up and its smooth and quite again

This can happen from bad repairs or from overly letting the door swing open to it's hinge stops - never let a door swing open !

yeh its been like this since ive had the car, so yeh, ive probably taken better care of it then any previous owner, actually going through and fixing the faults and that...
