Thread: K20 in a EF9

    K20 in a EF9

    Hi guys,

I currently have a genuine EF9 and plan to work it from the ground up. My plan was originally to go for the easy route of a B18C however with K20 swap becoming so popular with the eg's and ek's I am willing to give a K20 a shot in my EF9.

I understand that the work/cost involved is much more than the B18C.

I was wondering if anyone out there has tried the K swap into a EF8/9? If anyone knows of a Melbourne garage that has done this before that would great as I would like to give the work to someone that has done it before.

Thanks guys and look forward to any replies

Only seen one K20 EF8 which was up in Sydney. In Melb I've seen a K20 ED9 but it's been a long and arduous/costly process which isn't finished yet but will probably be the bees knees when it's done.

So yeah, very doable if you have the coin (probably at least $15-20,000) but I haven't seen any in Melbourne as of yet.

Looking at atleast $15k minimum for a shop to do it. Better start saving those pennies!

Dont bother bro. Waste of money.

You have an EF9. Put the b16a head on a b20 block. More peak power, superior torque, less money spent on sourcing parts by avoiding the new b18c.

With $12k I would just turbo the b16 with a twin scroll turbo. You will have good torque everywhere in the rev range and mind blowing top end.

140-150kw B series will suit it nicely.

K20a isnt much more dearer then k24.

Few K? well not really esp with the K20a has a LSD box, different ratios + wiring harness + ECU + midshaft + sensors + etc etc list goes on and on!

Yes k24 has more potential to make power...... stock for stock ... k20a still come out ontop.
