Exclamation WTF did this fall off my dc5?!?!

today i was showing my mate how my dc5r drove its his first time being in it and hes looking to get one himself, so i went through 1st gear to 8krpm and shifted hard into second and as the wheels were spinning in 2nd i heard a loud noise underneath the car sounded like i ran over a large stick or something,

so i pulled over to see what it was and i picked up this metal bracket looking thing off the road thinking maybe it was something i just ran over,
but it was hot when i picked it up?!? im thinking it maybe came off my car,
does anyone know what this is?/? car is driving fine no noises or anything

    ??? thankyou..

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

Doesn't look like it fell off the car, there's surface rust where the bolt should sit.

To be safe, get under the car and see if anythings missing/loose.

I reckon it's the bracket that either holds your stock exhaust manifold on or the manifold cover. Mine had to be bent out the way when I got my headers on, I can see it in my engine bay and it looks exactly the same. Wouldn't worry about it though mate

Stock exhaust manifold is held on only by the bolts to the engine head and by rubber hangers to the underside of the chassis. There is no bracket and bolt which holds the exhaust manifold on, you'd get vibrations transmitted into the cabin otherwise.

Based on the rust, that is just something that was sitting on the side of the road for a couple of days.

And it was hot because of the sun. Can get over 50 ºC if metal sits in direct afternoon sun.
