Did you get a check engine light when the cluster stopped?

If no cel occurred i would think the problem might be in the cluster, check the connections are still good ie the plugs on the cluster are on tight and the screws that hold the speedo in the housing are in tight.

also if you know someone with same car as you you could swap in there cluster to see if it starts working, if so replace speedo/cluster. If not then id start looking at vss.

I have checked all the connections and they are in firmly, I removed the battery. The only thing i noticed was these screws which werent in properly, they looked to short. kinda hard to explain but they didnt look like they reached if that makes sense.
