Hi all just looking at buying a 1998 prelude auto. Just wanted to know of any problems I should look out for my next visit. Had a quick look and a test drive all seems ok sofar.
$4500 white auto vtr 210k
I've heard bad things about the auto but I do a lot of city / peak time travel just thought it would be better. How much are they to fix ./ replace if they do fail?
There is also a 1999 SI manual lude for 5k I got my eye on too.
Don't touch an auto Prelude, they're ****ing horrible. My mate is ready to just drive his into a wall to be rid of it.
People here say "****** abo" on a regular basis. The constant use of this and other racist and homophobic slurs makes OzHonda one of the most openly prejudiced forums I've ever visited.
Get a Vti-R over a Si, much, much nicer engine (and other features).
I have an auto Vti-R and have not had a hint of transmission problems, it is now up to 172,000km and shifts like a new car. I change the trans fluid ever 40,000km, which I think can be the reason for premature failures, off the top of my head, Honda recommend a lot more distance between trans fluid changes.
Provided there are no problems currently with the auto (make sure you test it when cold also) and you treat it well with proper servicing, there shouldn't be any problems.
I love my auto Vti-R and would never change it to a manual, you just need to remember the Prelude is more of a 'cruiser' than a 'sports' car, I do a 700-800km round trip about once a month and it is brilliant for that sort of driving.
