hmmm...I read that many people don't like going from a mineral oil to full synthetic. Something about syn oils cleaning the engine and causing leaks.
But since Honda has released a fully syn oil there shouldn't be a problem with going from FEO to FEO Ultra right?

Anyway I still like my Castrol Edge 5w30 oil...

Yep, I also had read/heard something similar about this. I actually rang Honda 2 or so weeks ago about getting some new FEO oil and they told me they were getting this new fully synthetic oil in shortly; so I questioned him on whether changing from my current semi-synthetic (Magnatec) to a full synthetic would result in leaks to the seals etc.

His response was no and that he would only use a fully synthetic oil for my EK anyway as it protects the engine better... (would be interesting to do a bit more research on this...)

ANYWAY, has anyone ever asked their Honda dealer who makes the oil for Honda? It's obviously not Honda, so it must be one of the big oil companies; which in essence means you might be paying a premium for what you think is Honda oil but is probably something you could buy off the shelf at Supercheap anyway... would be interesting to hear what you guys think...?

Honda quoted me RRP for Ultra @ $67. I got offered trade price of $60, but $55 is pretty good Saint!

I asked him who makes the oil and he said it could be Mobil 1, but he wasn't 100% sure...

    Look familiar?

The only question is if as Ben said the other day.... the "normal" FEO is indeed the same as Caltex oil that is sold as Calibre branded oil. Is there a Calibre branded full synth oil on the shelves of Supercrap?

caltex specially formulate the oil to hondas strict guidlines - it wont be the same as other off the shelf products - similar perhaps - but not the same

could be another reason why my hondas have always ran the best on caltex fuel - i always get 96 or 98 from an industrial deppo - cleaner and cheaper =)

tried BP 98 in my Dc2 once - it didnt like it much lol
