Holy shit, you ok? ... any further damage to surrounding areas?

There were recalls in other countries due to a switch in the drivers door, but nothing in australia as far as I can see.

I take it that's your car and house in the photo? If so, its good to know you're alright.
Any more information regarding your car? Any Issues with the car previously? How was it serviced/maintained? Were all the in car electronics standard?
I'm sure there's plenty of 06 CRV owners out there who want to stop this happening if they can!

    Damages

We nearly lost the house. If I didnt get out of bed at 3am after hearing a bang, we could have perished. All happened extremely fast. Very lucky peeps. Thanks for the link, I had not seen this

All serviced by Honda. There had been a dvd fitted to the back years ago, was removed. We had previous documented issues with the passenger headlight not working. As this light was ON during and after the fire, I suspect a slow blow.

I found this article that mentions 2002-2004 CR-Vs we're recalled due to faulty headlight wiring in the USA. Could possibly be related to your faulty headlight issue.

    http://www.torquenews.com/106/honda-...dlight-failure

"the Japanese automaker believes that there could be a problem with the wiring going to the headlight switch"
