ACURA TSX RECALL: 2004-2008 Acura TSX ECUs May Rust, Fail

    2004-2008 Acura TSX

The Problem: Over time, water and deicing salt from a driver’s shoes can flood the carpet and eventually cause rust on the metal cover for the car’s electronic control unit (ECU). If that corrosion and water intrusion continues, the ECU will eventually fail, potentially causing the car to stall while driving. Acura says no crashes due to this problem have been reported so far.

The Fix: Dealerships will inspect and replace any damaged ECUs. Furthermore, all Acura TSX sedans will receive a special waterproof cover for the ECU compartment, damaged or not. The recall should begin April 11. It only covers vehicles sold or registered in states Acura says are likely to use “corrosive” deicing salts: Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 76,253 2004-2008 Acura TSX sedans.
