Hi All,
I have an 09 FD1. Soon after purchase I fitted a TWM short shift kit and base bushings, at the same time I fitted a gunmetal Skunk2 Shift knob.
Pros. looks great, weighs a ton, feels great, sits very low, especially if you don't fit the locking nut. Smoother Shifts.
Cons. Heats up like nothing else, hand branding stuff. Makes those shifts ultra quick to avoid 3rd degree burns.
Next was a Neo Chrome Blox 490.
Pros. Super good looking, feels great too. Also weighs a ton. Doesn't heat up as much but still gets quite hot, loses heat quicker too. Smooth shifts also.
Cons. Sits heaps higher than the Skunk.
Now a fake Mugen.
Pros. Cheap (and maybe nasty). Sits surprisingly low, looks weird but grows on you. Light as a feather, shifts feel notchy but good. Just different to the 2 knobs before.
Cons. Heat yet again, but loses heat quickly, the fact it is Fake, feels kinda cheap.
I tend to swap shift knobs around a fair bit. The Blox seems to spend the most time in the car.
Would love to see what you guys have.
