Post [cl9] audm ecu reflash faq

Since I'm getting a LOT of interesting and questions in relation to this, I will try to answer a few here:

    1. What is this REFLASH?
It' a reprogram of the existing ECU's operating parameters, so it alters what the computer tells the engine etc to do.

    2. So its like Flashpro?

    3. Why not?
Flashpro is a custom turning solution, this reflash is a one-size-fit-all solution.

    4. So I cant do a custom tune for my 50 degree VTC?
Correct, there will be no custom tuning at this stage (may change in the future tho)

    4. Do I need a TSX ECU?
NO, reflash will be on the AUDM/EUDM/JDM ECU's

    5. Do I need to visit a Honda dealer to reset the immobilizer?
NO, if your own, current ECU is used for the reflash, then you own current immobilizer setting would be retained, saving you $$$.

    6. What does the reflash tune change?

From the stock map, the reflash changes:
    a. ignition timing
    b. fuel map
    c. VTEC switchover point (lowered to 4.6-5k rpm depending on throttle)
    d. Cam advance
    e. Throttle/Drive by wire mapping (no more lag)
    So it's a comprehensive remap.

    7. Do I need mods?
NO, the remap is based on a stock motor, mods will obviously make the changes more noticeable, but it'll be just as good on a stock setup

    8. How much gain?
Where? Since it's a stock remap don't expect much outta the top end, it's more about mid and low range torque and response (daily usable power)

It'll be comparable with other reflash around, so similar to what you get outta likes of Hondata or the Russian reflashes

    9. Petrol? which Octane?
The tune is based on 95 octane.

    10. How's fuel consumption?
Well depends on your foot, if you drive like a twat and vtec day in day out then don't expect good figures

However, given the torque bump down low and mid range, it is possible to do most of the daily driving @under 2000rpm, I've been told it should give around a 5% improvement in consumption, if you drive to "ride the torque".

    11. So how much?
Since I am paying someone overseas to remotely apply the new program, the price is kinda sensitive to foreign exchange rates.

But given the current rates $500 should be the mark been aimed at

    12. How is it done?
Just like other reflashes, you're taking out your own ECU from your car for rework, once done it'll be mailed back to you.

    Detailed process TBA.

    13. How long will it take?
A day or 2 depends on the queue I think

Details TBA, there'll probably need a booking process.

    14. So when can I start?
    When the testing is complete.

    Still a dyno run outstanding

And I'm doing an economy run

Fedoops - without reading into it - WHO is supplying this "reflash"?

You or any non-ABN registered trader are not to supply this service directly on this forum.

IF any member wants to discuss further please pm Fredoops about it ;0)
