    Oil filter removal cap tool.......Honda=Mazda

Long shot here but i just wanted to know if anyone here on the forum
    1) owns a Mazda (skyactiv ones)
    2) does their own oil changes on them
    3) uses a oil filter removal cap tool to loosen the oil filter

reason im asking is, recently i tried doing oil change on my wife's cx-5. only to realize that the oil filter cap removal tool i use for my Honda is JUST a little too small for the Mazda one. when i say JUST i really mean only JUST. My Honda removal tool is not the OEM one from dealers so that may be why, but my father has one that is OEM and that too only JUST doesn't fit.

So i am just wondering, as i can order an array of sizes of these off eBay, what size should i be ordering? does anyone actually know the size of the Mazda OEM oil filters?

Honda i think is 64mm and 14 flutes...anyone have any idea what the Mazda one is?

im leaning to think that it is 67mm. As the one i currently have is 65mm and fits the Honda filters, 66mm doesnt really come up on eBay but there are an abundant number of 67mm ones.

You can buy a similar tool, thats adjustable.

I have this one. I bought it from my local spare part guy for like $12 bucks.

I removed the red plastic thing and sharpned the edges so it 'bites' into the oil filter. Have not bowed down to a oil filter since.

I've used this exact tool on hundreds of people's cars over the years , and many types and brands. Recommend it.

Fk you, last time you made me punch a hole into the oil filter.

All that did was give me oil in on my face.

this has 10x better grip than any 3 jaws oil filter tool imo, those 3 jaws needs to have their fangs 10mm longer & more aggressive "bite" angle to work
