ek1 '96 front sway bar install, and what is needed

Sorry guys, went searching for months (like, half an hour), and couldn't find a good write up... that had pictures that worked...

So, I'm curious; What is required to chuck sway bars on a '96 ek hatch? It sounds like I may need new front lca's or control arms, as I don't appear to have a sway bar up the front. But, I looked at some pictures, and it doesn't look like my control arms are the same as that. Maybe what I felt/ saw was not where the arms were, iunno. Maybe there was a lip.

but yeah, ek1, no rear sway, looking like no front sway.

What will I need? I have the rear end all under control. End links, sway bar, asr brace, and bushes, etc.
Will I just need front end links and the sway bar + bits? Or will I need a gli control arm with the sway bar mount or something? Or does mine have the spots for it, and I'm just a tard/ should have lifted my car up check?

Also, any good links to good front sway bar install guides? It'll probably be fairly obvious.. But, just to be safe

    Cheers!

    Done haha.

Ah lame. Will need to source lcas then as well :/
Sounds like it will be a pretty big exercise.

I'm genuinely surprised the car has no sway bars though, considering how it grips (it rolls for days though).
Ah well, might need to look for front lcas and we should be right.
Rear stock lcas are the same for most, aren't they?

I've done this to my CXi as well, EM1 stock swaybar on the rear, EK1 GLi LCAs and 21mm FSB (now 26mm EK4 FSB). Pretty straight forward conversion once you get your hands on the swaybar compatible front LCAs.

Got all my FSB stuff off the ozhonda forums luckily. Pretty straight forward swap over. Just don't make the rookie mistake I made by bashing the bottom of the ball joint (tap the side!) when removing it with the tool. Otherwise, you have to undo your exhaust half way and gearbox linkage to get the sway bar in place, it's a little fiddly wrangling the bar in there, but only took me about 5 minutes once I'd figured out how to feed it through everything. Use the PDF service manual to torque everything up to spec at the end.

Also, an ASR shouldnt be needed for the rear if you're sticking to stock RSB sizes. I picked up the standard OEM subframe brackets very cheaply from Honda. All rear LCAs should be swaybar compatible. Honda or eBay I find are very good for getting the little things cheap like brackets, swaybar links, d-bushes etc.

    Cheers,
    Dave.

    Ah mad, cheers man.

Asr is both for the 24mm rear, which iirc is a bit bigger than oem, but also that rear undercarriage porn look.

But, mad. That makes things simple. Will go to the wreckers and see if they have an aircon condensor as well as front fli lcas

Hey Dave b it's good to hear the bar worked out well for you ( I think I sold you The bar).

OP: You can get the brackets cheap from Honda. I bought new d brackets from Honda usa and they cost me about $5 each (was ordering a whole heap of other stuff at the same time so just added it to the shipping cost).
