Question [CL9] Air con compressor clutch not engaging

So the air con has suddenly stopped working the other day. There was no gradual drop off in cooling, it just blew out ambient air. I went through a lot of the posts in this forum and anything I could gather from the interwebs.

    Symptoms:
The compressor clutch doesn't engage when I turn the A/C on.
Only ambient air is blown through the vents.
No squealing noise coming from the compressor or engine bay.

Does this sound like more than just a need to re-gas or something else?

I found this on the web about diagnosing compressor clutch problems on the UK Accord using the US Accord schematics (which looks identical to the CL9).

Except for testing if the relay is faulty, are the other tests safe to do?
    What else can I check?

    Thanks.

Apparently if there's either too much or too little gas in the system it can cause the system to not cool properly.Go to an auto electrician and get them to regas/check the system and put some dye in it while they're at it.

I have a feeling there is also a pressure valve that can stop the compressor actually turning on too.

Was it working at the time that it stopped, or has it just been something you have only recently turned on after a few months. You may have heard the power increase on the car if the a/c was on at the time it cut off. Could be a relay/fuse but technically a fuse shouldn't go unless there was a problem it was trying to protect the electrical system from.

Was quoted $1200 for a Delphi compressor + labour + regas... ouch!
$500 for labour + regas alone.
    $700 for the Delphi compressor.

    Does that sound reasonable?

Was thinking of getting this compressor from eBay that comes with 5 years warranty.

    That's reasonable for the compressor
One thing you need to ask
If they do replace the system
Enquire if they do flushing/refill with correct PAG oil
Otherwise all those metal shavings will kill the new one
i'd suggest do some shopping around for the best price
Might be a good idea to see if you can get a price on a Hadsys/DENSO one (OEM Makers)

Booked in with Frozen Air in Keysborough (VIC). $1200
    - Sanden compressor (his suppliers don't stock the Denso ones for Euro/CRV anymore - too many warranty replacements)
    - New Condensor (with drier)
    - System flushed
    - TX valves checked/replaced
    - re-oiled, re-gassed with dye

I can't be bothered looking around anymore... tired of the Mrs complaining about no aircon

Im in the process of getting my aircon compressor replace after it shit it self and seized. I got quoted $680 to fit compressor, replace tx valve, new condenser and flush.

Brand new compressor and TX valve from USA cost me 330 shipped. New condensor cost me 100 from ebay seller in Sydney.

Do you think $680 is fair for the above install of parts only?

HmM, the missus accord euro recently started blowing ambient air from the AC. Had done this intermittently after running for a while previously, but now it's permanently not working.

Common for the compressor to crap itself on these is it?
