    H22A4 Engine Ticking

    Hey OzHonda,

Lately I've noticed on and off that my engine seems to tick a fair bit. It's currently sitting on 217xxx kms and I personally think I need a valve adjustment. My friend seems to think it's rod knock but the engine doesn't seem like it's loosing power (despite down low with CAI causing a little bit of lag).

I will be double checking where the sound may be coming from sometime soon but I was wondering how much a valve adjustment would cost roughly? Will it be able to stop the ticking noise if it is a valve adjustment issue?

    Thanks.

Shouldn't cost too much, if you do it yourself, it's cheaper (obviously), it's pretty easy too

Thanks Renzo, I'll most likely get a mechanic to do it just because I'm not all to good with doing any sort of mechanical work like that.

I'm guessing this isn't to bad though? I want to check where the sound is coming from really soon.

    Take a vid

Is it while the car is cold or is it cold and warm?

My white prelude had loud valve clearances, it doesn't effect much at all to be honest.

It was like a truck in the morning, but when warmed up it was fine.

If it's injectors it's fine too

It happens in both cold and warm. At times I don notice that it stops and then comes back but.

It does seem noticeable when warm but still does it when cold.

If I have sometime I will try to make a vid.

Get a long screwdriver and put it on the injector and put it to your ear
Then compares with putting the screwdriver on the rocker cover

Thanks Renzo and Jasemas. Will update this thread with findings and hopefully a video this week or next week.

If it's an injector issue would they just need to be replaced?

Or they'll need to be removed from the car and flow tested & cleaned
