    Honda MTF Alternative?

Hey guys I know this might have been asked before but I cannot find the the correct search terms.

I've got a noisy s20 gearbox apart doing main shaft bearings and was wondering if anybody has an alternative to MTF that suits older/lightly worn syncros? Maybe something that's available from a store in aus.

    Cheers!

I've been using Penrite on my rooted s80 for over a year. No worries. Just bought the recommended one out if the book.

+1 for penrite. I used in all my gearbox's from D/B/K and even currently used in my STi's box and rear diff. Only changed once a year or when I felt like doing the extra work.

    - I use this cos its readily available from any supercheap and repco. No need to make extra trip to dealer or a specialist store for oil.

I use penrite everything, brake fluid, clutch line, engine, tranny, rear diff. Haven't had a problem with lubrication ever.

Only car that didn't run Penrite gbox fluid was my Jazz's CVT. Dat bitch is a whole new story.

Penrite Trans Gear 75w-80 is another off the shelf option.

Premix 125ml of Nulon G70 additive if your synchros are old/a bit worn. Stay away from Nulon gearbox oils though.

According to Nulon the G70 won't really do much if they're worn out
Had a chat with a rep last week
The Nulon GB oils contains G70 and LSD conditioners in it though

I'm talking from experience with both lol

If the synchros are fukd then G70 won't fix it, but if they're just a bit old it definitely does help. Mixes well with Pro Gear.

Even if the Nulon transmission oil has G70 in it, it's not enough to make if work well lol. It's probably one of the worst feeling gearbox oils I've used.
