    185/55 r16 Tyre recommendations ?

Have just purchased a new VTi manual Jazz and have ordered the optional "Black Pack" 185/55 r16 rims to be delivered wihtout tyres.

Was intending to put my current favouritie tyre the Michiln pilot sport 3s or Michiln primacy 3 st's but sadly just found out Michiln don't make them in a 185/55 r16 size.

Seems 185/55 r16 is an unusual size so was wonderng if anyone is happy with their current Jazz 16in tyre choice and could recommend them ?

What will you be using the car for?

Problem is 185/55R16 is not a common size for sport/performance orientated tyres, 195/55R16 a little more popular but usually its 205 for 16s.

Was wondering if people use 205 / 50 / 16 as they are an exact match for diameter, just unsure about them being legal.

I do drive with meaning solo so value good grip but when wife and kids are in with me would rather a smooth, quiet tyre which is why I like the all round balance of the Michelin Sport 3s on my car and Micheln tyres in general on my bike.

Seems going to 205/50/16 is a common choice seeing as the Diameter is only 1.5m which some say is the difference in some brands for the same tyre size, also called my insurer and they confirmed there is no problem from their side in the width change, called the tyre supplier and they informed me this is a common change with the Jazz especially as it is only 20mm wider than the Honda factory optioned wheel and believe there are only positive handling and braking improvements with no clearance issues but they did say they would be happy to test clearances with me on install.

Interesting US Fit site discussion link below on 185-55r16 vs 205-50r16 seems a popular replacement for the Gen 2 Jazz over the pond.

    205/50R16, 195/55R16, or 185/55R16 for 2009 Fit Sport:

Here's a hint when ordering the optional Mag wheels on a new Jazz, order the Honda specific crome domed wheel nuts to go with them, anyway have picked them up from Honda accessory department finding they were surprisingly inexpensive at only $20.

Finally had Toyo Nanoenergy 3s 185/55R16 fitted onto my optional Honda "Black" Mag wheels, they look much better than the standard 15/65/175s and steering wise feel better. the Toyos are considered Eco tyres but they appear to grip and brake well.

Have been happy with my choice of 185/55R16 tyres the Toyo Nanoenergy 3s, have proven they have much better feedback than the OEM 175/15 Potenzas and seem to roll smoother and seem better in wet conditions also.

5 Months on and still happy with my choice of Toyo Nanoenergy 3s, probably the only time they briefly lose traction is on greasy road on the crest of a hill when taking off at lights, then again all the FWD cars I've owned have had problems in similar conditions no matter what tyre they've been shod with. Mind none of wifes Subarus have never slipped a the same intersection which serves to illustrate the usefulness of AWD.
