2005 Honda Jazz trembling while accelerating

    Hello!

First time poster after lurking around for a bit.

I have a problem with my Jazz, whenever I accelerate from stand-still, the car starts shaking until it reaches around 20-30km/h. I haven't taken it to a workshop yet, just wanted to know why this could happen so I could discuss it with the mech.

The car is a 2005 Honda Jazz, not sure of the exact badge though, but it is not VTEC. I change the tyres recently, thinking it would solve it, but no luck.

Some friends suggested it might be the transmission, but not sure on that.

EDIT: Auto transmission. Car has just passed 160000, last service done around 135.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Wait- you haven't serviced the car in 25k kms? or you mean just the transmission fluid?

Haven't serviced since 25k because the guy wrote on the book that the next service would have to be at 65k. But the problem was still there before the last service at 35.

What, man, go service the car for a start.

But your shuddering issues need to be dealt with by flushing, it might stop it, it might be too late though. Go buy 3 bottles of 4lt honda cvt fluid, drain, fill, drive repeat, might save the tranny

Yeah, service it is, but not with the last guy anymore.

Out of curiosity, how much can I get the cvt flushed for? If I want to go to the dealer, that is.

probably a lot, its piss easy to do yourself at home with minimal tools, fluid is the expensive part, from memory its about 70 bucks for 4lts

I'd expect honda to charge around 300, though that's a guess, i'd call them up and ask for a quote

Just sent an email for a quote, if they say anything more than 200 I'll do it myself.

From looking at an online Japanese OEM parts shop, I estimate it'll be $350 - 400ish for a set from Honda. (Excluding labour.) Just ring up your local Honda dealer(s).

Bet it'll be the engine, transmission and rear engine mounts that's the problem. You don't have to to change all of them if they are not all gone, but your car is almost 11 years old so might as well.

My Jazz also has this problem with the mounts. (Along with all others)
I am about to order an aftermarket engine mounts set, Hardrace. As a car enthusiast (who does not drive like normal drivers do), I'd rather upgrade them rather to change the mounts again in 10 years time or so.
