    B series engine questions

    Hey everyone

Putting this here as its probably noob question to a lot of people, but I dont have a great (read little to no) knowledge of the B series.

Got an OBD 1 B18C2 to put into a Del Sol but need a few bits of info.

    1. Can i use any B series Intake Mani, or C2 intake mani only?

    2. Need a dizzy, ca i use any OBD1 B series one, or is there a specific one I need?

    3. Same as dizzy, but Alternator?

    4. Will B16a2 loom plug straight into C2?

    Sorry for all the Q's

    thanks

1: B18C2 has a different intake manifold stud pattern to all other B series. Only manifolds specifically designed for B18C2 will fit.

2: Not 100% sure but I would think that all vtec b series obd1 distributors would be the same.

3: Pretty sure B18C2/B16A/2 obd1 alternators should all be interchangeable.

4: If it's odb1 I would think it would mostly plug and play, however the C2 stock manifold has electronically actuated butterfly valves so you may need to add an extra plug and wires for that.

B16a2 is obd2. Don't think they're interchangeable (though I'm not sure of the exact differences )

Isn't the B16A2 in a Del Sol OBD1? it's from similar years to the EG isn't it?

Not sure about the del sol. I know the b16a2 from ek4 is def obd2. My understanding was that all obd1 cars had the b16a and all the obd2 cars had the b16a2. Again, happy to be proven wrong.

even if a 1993 build date? Surely that is OBD1? Previous owner was running Hondata as well on stock ECU for B16a2.

brian, if u manage to get urself a skunk2 inlet manifold, u can use any obd1/2 engine loom/harness, as it will plug up at the strut tower, and the loom that goes to the ecu is obd1
so either u use keiths original b16a ecu to get u going, or a dc2r ecu with a harness to run it...
any obd1 dizzy will work, but with a obd2 engine harness, u will need a obd2 dizzy and alternator
with dizzy, u can run a adaptor harness to suit which eva engine harness u end up with...

    hope that helps
