    New to the game

Hi i am looking to buy my first honda. Most likely a civic ek or eg with a b18c7 swap. I was wanting to know what the swaps are like for reliability ( if normal services are done every 5000km) How do they go against a v8 commodore in first and second gear? Is eg better for the swap weight wise? Thanks in advance

they can be reliable as any stock honda if serviced and maintained

against older v8s no problem, against current hsv and fpv not likely

EG is definitely the lighter of the 2.

B18C7 swap will definitely own the older V8s for sure.

Have you considered the K series engines as well? They are a bit more in price but well worth it.

I have now thought about an ep3 civic Type R which has the K20A in it.. how do these go against a stock B18C7 in an eg ? The reliability I would think of an EP3 would be much better than a B18C7 swap into an EG. EP3 pricing is everywhere from 23k down to 11k and a good EG is about 9 K so I think I have narrowed choice. EG with b18c7 or B18cr or an EP3. in terms of performance practicality fuel economy daily drivability.. any experience? opinions?

so a B18C7 wont strip Universal joints in a civic because I have seen where people do the 5 stud conversion.. this is more for K20A has anyone had proplems with the shafts or joints when putting in a B18C into an EG civic?

car can be reliable or unreliable from one extreme to the other. depends on your treatment of the machine and maintenance.

opinions? unless you're drag racing like yonas, why are you worried about UV joints?
