I actually found some cracks on each mounting area for the cap, not sure if that would affect the performance of the cap. That carbon is stubborn.
I want to take the distributor off to take a clear picture, and it will be easier to get the screw out, but i dont want to mess with the timing, is there a good chance ill move the distributor ignition if i take it off even if im careful?

^^ As ryan said, mark where the dizzy sits,so you can put it back in the same spot. It doesn't have to be exact exact..it will be much easier cause you can take it to a mechanic if you get stuck.

The carbon chunks off, just go easy once you get the initial chunk off cause you'll scrape away the metal like I did,no biggie though. .
