New year, new V8 Supercar season! With Shane van Gisbergen, Jamie Whincup, and Craig Lowndes leading the charge once again this season, Red Bull Holden Racing Team is a force to be reckon with. Backed by one of the most successful race car builders in the series, Triple Eight Race Engineering, the team is the red hot favourite to repeat their dominance this year. With changes to the aero work, most notably a revised rear wing, the Holden VF Commodores will now be on par with the Ford FG Falcons, especially around high speed race tracks with sweeping corners.

The first battleground of the year, Adelaide’s Clipsal 500, has always been fascinating as drivers come to grips with their new setups whilst in the midst of heated door-to-door racing. Whincup believes that the new tyres with different construction and compounds will be crucial to the 2017 season. He was involved in the first tyre test last year to help determine the new compounds. Always an exciting track, the Clipsal 500 is the definitive curtain raiser on the latest V8 Supercars, their liveries, and new drivers.
