    engine is starting to smell like my old rotary!

    its got 497,000+ks now..

    is it time for a new engine?

    wat could i do to prolong the enginesn life.. i want it to reach 500

    If it smells like a rotary, put in 2 stroke engine oil? Haha....
    But congrats on almost half a MILLION kms! If you want to go that 3000km more, why not try a 10w-60 synthetic oil? It should help prevent blowby and perhaps reduce your smoke slightly. But after that, it's time to retire the old lady. 10w-60 is not cheap, and once you use it you can't go back to the cheap stuff as it will smoke even more!

    mate with 497,000 on the dial, who cares how it smells, as long as its not leaking to much oil ( which could be the cause ) keep changing the oil at regular intervals and drive it till it blows

    as i said before...im sure not only the engine is just about dead. Bushes , suspension/shocks , wheel hub bearings etc will all start to show age on a car body thats done almost 500,000ks ! Good luck and get it all checked out
